Long Tall Sally

In the U.K. the Rarities album was predominantly the singles' B-Sides, mixed with the Long Tall Sally E.P. But the true prize was the Wildlife version of "Across The Universe" and the two German language versions of "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand".
The U.K. Rarities set was originally released as part of the Beatles Collection box set. The box set was a complete discography of The Beatles U.K. album releases in a reissue form. Much like the 1987 CD, Past Masters, Rarities was a way to master some songs not available on Beatles albums. Although the box set failed to add some of the many non-LP singles, Rarities was a nice addition to the collection.
The 1978 Vinyl box set contained 12 original U.K. Beatles albums and the Rarities:
-
Please Please Me
-
With the Beatles
-
A Hard Day's Night
-
Beatles for Sale
-

-

-

-
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
-

-

Where the U.K. Rarities catered to B-Sides and the Long Tall Sally E.P., The U.S. Rarities catered more toward bonus tracks not typical of the U.S. Many of the songs have never been available in the U.S. and for the North American market, Rarities was true to its title.

The album came with an informative back cover [shown below] along with the full length Butcher Cover of Yesterday And Today and a collection of photos of The Beatles not common in the U.S. before. Of all of the post-breakup releases, Rarities was one of the finer gems released by Capitol Records.
